Twitter Says Goodbye To Fleets
Twitter has announced that it is removing its fleet feature. The fleet feature is similar to Instagram stories which automatically disappear after 24 hours. The US-based tech giant started fleets about 8 months ago, but due to its limited usage, the company will shut down the feature by August 3.

After the removal of fleets, users will see the audio chat room at the top of their timeline. Moreover, users will get updates like more camera editing features, GIF stickers, and text-formatting on their photos.
Twitter's Vice President of Product llya Brown said in a statement that “we hoped Fleet would help more new people join the conversation on Twitter. But, since we launched it, the number of new additions has not increased as we expected.”
Revealing the reason, the statement further added, “Although we built Fleets to address some of the anxieties that hold people back from Tweeting, Fleets are mostly used by people who are already Tweeting to amplify their own Tweets and talk directly with others,”
Brown also described this as a sensible move, saying that “if we do not develop our features and do not remove some features, it will mean that we do not want to take big risks. We will continue to explore new avenues of communication through Twitter, get people's feedback and continue to turn in new directions for the convenience of our users.”
