Nadav Lapid, the Israeli filmmaker has made a remark against the movie 'The Kashmir Files' by saying 'it has fascist features'.
Earlier, at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), he had stated Vivek Agnihotri's movie as 'vulgar, propaganda film'. Since then, he has been speaking out against the movie was not an easy task and he was apprehensive about it.
After making the comment in front of a group of distinguished actors and dignitaries, Lapid found himself in hot water, with the casts of Agnihotri and Kashmir Files, as well as Israel's ambassador to India, criticising his remarks.
He continues that he was shocked by how obviously it supported the government's position on Kashmir. Lapid stated that the movie "justifies the Indian policy in Kashmir, and it has fascist aspects," despite the fact that the directors have emphasised that it is based on the huge flight of Kashmiri Hindus in the 1990s.
The filmmaker said he knew that the event was terribly connected to the country and everyone stands and praised the government there. He added that it was not an easy position and that since he was the president, he was treated nicely.
He opines, "And then you come and attack the festival. There was apprehension, and there was discomfort . I didn’t know what the dimensions would be, so I did it with some apprehension. Yes, I spent the day apprehensive. Let’s put it this way: I’m happy to be on my way to the airport now."
