Telangana Govt To Introduce Common Mobility Card For Public Transport
The Telangana government will soon be launching a Common Mobility Card, that allows seamless commuting on the city’s public transportation system. This card will be usable on Metro Rail and RTC buses, which form the primary modes of public transportation within Hyderabad city.
The state’s urban development minister KT Ramarao’s office released an official statement with regard to the same following a meeting on Thursday. According to the statement, the process of issuing these cards will begin by the second week of August and all authorities have been directed to make necessary arrangements.
Arvind Kumar, special chief secretary of MAUD, has invited ideas from the public for a name for the card, noting that the same card may be used in other Indian towns that have implemented the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC).
Senior representatives from HMRL, TSRTC, and other organisations joined KTR during the meeting to talk about the card's implementation and functionality. Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay was also there. They underlined the value of the "One Card for All Travel Needs" idea during the conference.
The goal is to make it possible for residents to use the Common Mobility Card for a variety of different transactions, just like they can with other cards, to streamline the payment process for travel. The state administration sees this card as a game-changing instrument to improve the entire experience of using public transport. With intentions to soon make MMTS, cab services, and vehicles usable, it will initially allow travel via Metro Rail and RTC buses, according to the statement.
