TCS Q1 FY25: Headcount Growth In Green After Three Quarters

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT services company, reported a net addition of 5,452 employees in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2025, breaking a streak of three consecutive quarters of workforce reduction. 

The company’s headcount had previously decreased by 1,759 employees in the March quarter.

With this latest increase, TCS now employs a total of 6,06,998 people. The attrition rate for the quarter continued its downward trend, dropping to 12.1 per cent from the previous quarter’s 12.5 per cent.

In a statement, Milind Lakkad, Chief HR Officer, TCS said, “I am delighted to announce the successful completion of our annual increment process. Our continued focus on employee engagement and development led to industry-leading retention and strong business performance, with the net headcount addition being a matter of immense satisfaction.” 

TCS experienced its first annual headcount reduction in 19 years during FY24, a big shift in trend since its stock market debut in 2004. 

In Q1, the company achieved a 9 per cent year-on-year (YoY) rise in net profit, reaching Rs 12,040 crore. Revenue for the quarter was Rs 62,613 crore, a 5.4 per cent increase from the same period last year, surpassing market expectations.
