Tata Communications, Air France–KLM Partner To Promote Green Travel
Tata Communications, a digital infrastructure provider firm has entered into a partnership with Lufthansa and Air France KLM to offset its business travel emissions through the purchase of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
SAF is a cleaner alternative to traditional jet fuel that can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80 per cent. Notably, Tata Communications is the first Indian company to enter into such an agreement, and its commitment to SAF is a significant step forward in the fight against climate change.
Business travel accounts for a small but significant portion of Tata Communications' scope three emissions. The company expects its business travel emissions to increase by five times in FY23 compared to FY22, as the world resumes normalcy after the Covid-19 pandemic.
Tata Communications' partnership with Lufthansa and Air France KLM is part of its broader commitment to sustainability, the company said. It has pledged to become carbon neutral by FY 2030 and net zero by 2035.
