Stocks of Tanla Platforms soared as much as 10 per cent in the Moday trading session after the firm secured a deal from a global technology firm.
Tanla Platform stock traded at Rs 1,038 with 8.94 per cent gain in the afternoon session on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
“Tanla Platforms has signed a commercial agreement with one of the global tech majors on wisely ATP to combat scams on their messaging platform by identifying fraudulent phone numbers,” stated Tanla Platforms in an exchange filing.
As part of the collaboration, WhatsApp will receive real-time alerts about possible fraud from Tanla's Al-driven anti-phishing service Wisely ATP, which keeps an eye on dangerous URLs and ten-digit numbers.
Tanla Platform did not share the further details due to certain constraints, however according to media sources, WhatsApp, owned by Meta Platforms, has signed the agreement.
Reportedly, the cooperative agreement will assist Tanla Platforms in recognising phoney phone numbers in an effort to strengthen efforts at policing scams across its messaging platform.
After going through its own verification procedure, WhatsApp will act on the basis of this anonymised data. The telecom regulator issued a directive on 13 June 2023, requiring telecom companies to use Al/ML technologies in order to determine the origins of problematic SMS messages.
