Sridevi starrer Mom has concluded first weekend (7-9 July) on a positive note. The film showed an upward trend at the box-office collecting a little over Rs 15 crore in the first three days.
Facing a minimal start of Rs 2.90 crore on Friday (7 July), Mom showed an impressive growth of 75 per cent on Saturday (8 July), collecting Rs 5.08 crore. Sunday (9 July) was super strong for the drama-thriller, as the film collected close to Rs 7 crore, taking the 3 day combined collections over Rs 15 crore.
With the likes of talented actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Akshaye Khanna and Sri Devi, these numbers doesn’t seem so surprising. Adding to the pool of talented actors and a solid script, was the fact that Mom received excellent critical acclaim throughout. The audience word of mouth for the movie is super strong, resulting in regular growth of audience turn-out to the theatres.
Regardless of the competition from Guest Iin London and Spider-Man: Homecoming, Mom covered its ground effectively and brought in its respective box-office share to the table. The film is expected to sustain similar growth in weekdays and rake in good box-office numbers.
The film has been released in a total of 1,350 screens in India and around 500 screens overseas. The box-office numbers are pretty good considering the limited screen count for the movie. With a positive first weekend, the film is supposed to retain similar screen count for the weekdays.
The Ravi Udyawar film is made on a budget of Rs 30 crore and looking at the box-office footfalls, Mom is expected to rake in profit for the makers by the end of second weekend.
The thriller-drama film is produced by MAD Films and Third Eye Pictures, and is distributed by Zee Studio and Sridevi productions.
