Spiderman: Homecoming opened on decent accounts at the box-office. The much hyped Hollywood super-hero affair saw decent occupancy at the Indian box-office. The film has raked in a total of Rs 8.8 crore, including the Thursday (6th July) night previews.
However, the collections are lower than the last two Spiderman films. Back in 2012, The Amazing Spiderman 1 collected Rs 6.77 crore on the opening day, while the 2014 release, The Amazing Spiderman 2, collected Rs 7.5 crore at the box-office on Day 1.
Spiderman collected Rs 2.3 crore in Thursday previews. The film saw a preview release of 300 screens. Getting a full release on Friday, Spiderman: Homecoming opened with an average occupancy of 25-30 per cent in the morning shows. The film picked up in the evening and night shows. The film collected Rs 6.5 crore on Friday (7th July), taking the total collections to Rs 8.8 crore.
This is the third biggest opening for a Hollywood film in the year 2017. Fast & Furious 8 with Rs 9.27 crore and XXX- Return of Xander Cage with Rs 7.21 crore, holds the first and second position respectively.
Spiderman: Homecoming is riding on great reviews by the National and International critics. The film is rated 93 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes and has a healthy iMDB rating of 8.3 with 27,000 votes.
The International market scenario for Spiderman: Homecoming is totally different. The film has opened to great numbers in the International markets. Spiderman raked in $15 million in the Thursday paid previews in the U.S. The Marvel film is expected to bring in more than$100 million from the domestic U.S. market and close to $300 million globally in the opening weekend.
