Spider-Man: Homecoming went off to a great start at the Indian box-office and raked in Rs 43 crore in week 1. Facing stiff completion from Jagga Jasoos and War for the Planet of the Apes in week 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming brought in Rs 1.75 crore on Friday (14th July). The film saw an impressive jump of over 50 per cent on the second Saturday (15th July), collecting Rs 3.80 crore. Spider-Man’s biz escalated further on Sunday (16th July); the film collected Rs 5 crore to end week 2
The Marvel franchise collected over Rs 1 crore on Monday (17th July) and now stands at a total collection of Rs 54.25 crore at the Indian box-office. The film is expected to go past Rs 60 crore mark by the end of weekend 3 and close at a lifetime collection close to Rs 65 crore.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is the highest grossing Spider-Man film in India with a collection of Rs 58 crore. Spider-Man: Homecoming might easily overtake the former Spider-Man film to become the highest grossing franchise film.
The film has received very positive reviews from national and international critics and the word of mouth has been superb. This has translated into some great numbers at the worldwide box-office. Spider-Man: Homecoming has grossed over $ 480 million (approx. Rs 3,000 crore) at the worldwide box-office.
The superhero film is the second reboot of the Spider-Man franchise after Spider-Man- 1,2 and 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man- 1 and 2. The film has been co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios and distributed by Sony Pictures. The Marvel film stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton and Robert Downey Jr. in the lead.
