Following the trend of on-demand content, Over-The-Top (OTT) service provider of Indian content, YuppTV announced the launch of its new service, YuppFlix. The service will offer its users access to its library of over 5000 titles.
“The Indian expat communities living overseas have limited access to legal regional movie content. Having established YuppTV as the digital destination for over-the-top Indian content, we felt the time was right for us to launch YuppFlix as the premier on-demand digital movie solution for Indian expats. With our extensive database of movies in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, Punjabi and Kannada, we are confident of delivering high-quality digital movie solutions for our users across the globe,” said founder and CEO Uday Reddy at the launch.
The Atlanta-headquartered company was founded in 2006, positioned to specifically cater to entertainment wants of the Indian diaspora and claims that it currently has the biggest catalogue in the industry, boasting of 25000 hours of subscription based on-demand content which can be accessed via the internet.
With the global success of services like Netflix and Hulu, on-demand services are widely considered the future of the home entertainment industry, taking a hit on traditional television advertising revenues in countries like the US. For the third quarter of 2015, industry heavyweight Netflix had reported a revenue of $1,738.36 million.
The company also says that it will keep users up to date with all the latest blockbusters by providing instant movie updates through ad campaigns & push notifications. Internet premiers of upcoming movies and blockbusters will be made available.
