E-commerce firm Snapdeal announced a partnership with Energy Efficiency Services Limited, the government company that is leading the Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) for the Ministry of Power.
This will allow the government to increase its distribution reach of LED bulbs with Snapdeal providing an online outlet to sell bulbs starting from Rs 99.
The partners hope that this deal will assist in the promotion of efficient lighting, enhancement of awareness of using LED to reduce electricity bills as well as increasing efficiency in domestic energy consumption.
Energy Efficiency Services is a joint venture of the National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC), Power Finance Corporation, Rural Electrification Corporation and Power Grid. It was set up under the Ministry of Power to facilitate implementation of energy efficiency projects. It aims to create energy savings of up to 20 per cent of current consumption to unlock the energy efficient market in the country which is estimated to be worth $12 billion.
