The recent news of Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali starrer of the modern-day mythology, The Immortal Ashwathama, getting on the backbench has become the talk of the town.
Several reports revealed that producer Ronnie Screwvala, who is producing the film, has apparently decided to put it on hold because of budget issues which ultimately caused the makers massive losses. If reports are to be believed, this big-budget modern science fiction has been in the pre-production stage for more than two years now.
The makers and team of the film did several recces, already working on the entire pre-visualization. Apart from that, the team had several meetings with the VFX companies. They hired an international action team in order to train Sara Ali Khan and Vicky Kaushal for their respective action-packed roles over the last year. Meanwhile, the producer of the film Ronnie Screwvala had spent more than Rs. 30 crore to get everything done to take the film forward, which ultimately will go in vain. His entire investment has gone for a toss.
The makers took the decision to shelve it because of the creative differences between the producers and the film director, Aditya Dhar, who earlier had directed war drama URI- The Surgical Strike, which also had Vicky Kaushal in the lead.
After investing a big amount of money, Ronnie came to know that the overall budget of the film was too far and it would create difficulties for him to recover the whole money, amid the ongoing Coronavirus or even in the non-COVID time.
The budget of the film was already decided, however, as the pre-production began, it soared day by day. Hence, Ronnie considered letting go of his Rs. 30 crore investment.
Ronnie Screwvala had earlier collaborated with Vicky Kaushal and Aditya Dhar on URI: The Surgical Strike, which also had Yami Gautam in lead roles. URI was one of the highest grosser films of that year and the biggest blockbusters of Hindi cinema in the last few years.
