Sibal threw his hat in the ring after more than two decades of him serving as the President of the SCBA in the year 2001. He served as the President of SCBA in 1996, 1997 and 2001.
The other candidates in the fray were Senior Advocate Adish C. Aggarwala, Senior Advocate Pradeep Rai, Priya Hingorani, Tripurari Ray and Neeraj Srivastava.
As per sources, Sibal received 1066 votes. Pradeep Rai received 689 votes while Aggarwala got only 296 votes.
