Samsung's forthcoming flagship, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, is generating interest as new leaks disclose critical facts regarding its battery, charging capabilities and likely naming and design changes. The Galaxy S25 Ultra, set to ship early next year, is primed to carry on the brand's legacy, albeit some of the promised features may leave enthusiasts wanting more.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra was recently uncovered on China's 3C certification site, revealing details about the smartphone's battery. According to the listing, the Galaxy S25 Ultra would have a 4,885mAh battery, which Samsung is expected to promote as a 5,000mAh device upon sale. This implies that the battery capacity will be unchanged from its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
Along with the battery information, the certification suggests that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will continue to offer 45W fast charging, which matches the charging capabilities of the Galaxy S24 Ultra. While these parameters remain unchanged, they suggest that Samsung may not prioritise battery and charging enhancements for its upcoming flagship.
Adding to the excitement, rumours are swirling that Samsung may change the naming scheme for its Galaxy S25 family. Notably, the Galaxy S25 Ultra might be renamed as the ‘Galaxy S25 Note,’ a nod to the Galaxy Note series, which the Ultra variant basically succeeded. According to tipster Yogesh Brar, this rebranding may also include the Galaxy S25 Plus, which might be dubbed the ‘Galaxy S25 Pro.’ However, the motivation behind this prospective name change is unclear, and it remains to be seen whether further models will be produced under the new naming convention.
Design improvements are also expected for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, with reports indicating that the device will have more rounded corners, breaking from the boxier look of prior iterations. If accurate, the Galaxy S25 Ultra would be more similar to the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The new flagship is also rumoured to feature a body thickness of 8.4mm, making it the thinnest Ultra model yet.
While some may be disappointed by the absence of major improvements in battery capacity and charging speed, the possibility of a design revamp and an homage to the renowned Galaxy Note series could make the Galaxy S25 Ultra an appealing option for Samsung fans. As the official release date nears, more information is expected to surface.
