Qualcomm Launches Its Own Android Smartphone; Priced At $1499
Chipset maker Qualcomm has launched its first smartphone-‘Smartphone for Snapdragon Insiders’. The premium smartphone has been made in partnership with Asus. This phone has been specially designed for the company's loyalty program ‘Snapdragon Insider’ which was launched in March this year. The highlights of the smartphone are the Snapdragon 888 processor, AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate, and 512 GB of internal storage.
The price of the smartphone for Snapdragon Insider is $ 1,499 i.e. around Rs 1,12,200. The phone will be available for purchase from Asus online and offline stores in Midnight Blue color from August. Initially, it will be made available in China, Japan, Korea, US, UK and India, although no information has been revealed about the Indian price yet.
The third-generation Snapdragon X60 5G modem has been used in the phone, with which all the 5G sub-6 and mm-Wave bands are supported along with Qualcomm Signal Boost connectivity. The smartphone claims high fi sound at up to 24 bit and 96kHz. It is accompanied by Qualcomm Spectra 580 Image Signal Processor that allows 4K and 8K video recording.
The smartphone gets a 6.78-inch Full HD Plus AMOLED display, which has a resolution of 1080x2448 pixels and supports HDR10 and HDR10+. The claimed brightness of the display is 1,200 nits. Moreover, the display is also protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. The phone has a Snapdragon 888 processor which is paired with 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512 GB of internal storage.
Talking about the camera, it has a triple rear camera setup in which the primary lens is 64 megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor, which has an aperture f / 1.8. The second lens is the 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 ultra-wide sensor, which has an aperture f / 2.2. The third lens is an 8-megapixel telephoto lens. The smartphone also supports optical image stabilization. Moreover, a 24-megapixel camera has been given for selfies and video chats.
Coming to the features, the smartphone has dual stereo speakers with support for Smart AMP and Snapdragon sound. Quad HDR microphone has also been given on the smartphone for a better audio experience. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth v5.2, NFC, GPS/ A-GPS/ NavIC and Type-C port. The phone has a 4000mAh battery which comes with Qualcomm Quick Charge 5.0. The phone will be available in Midnight Blue color and will be available through online and offline retail channels of Asus.
