National award-winner and Padma Shri awardee, Prasoon Joshi was honoured at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa, as the Indian Personality of the Year for his contribution to cinema, popular culture and socially significant artistic work.
The award was presented to him by the Anurag Thakur, Information and Broadcasting Minister, where other eminent personalities were present during the finale.
"I dedicate this award to my source of inspiration, Uttrakhand, and all the young creative minds of India, who may be from small towns but are driven to make a big impact," said Joshi.
Notable works of Prasoon Joshi include Taare Zameen Par, Rang De Basanti, Hum Tum, Fanaa, Akarkshan, Delhi 6, Ghajini, Neerja, Manikarnika, and many more.
Anurag Thakur also took to Twitter and wrote, "Congratulations to Sh Prasoon Joshi Ji on being conferred the Indian Personality of the Year Award at the IFFI 52. Your body of work is remarkable; you have enriched Indian cinema and inspired generations of budding filmmakers."
Joshi is also an advertising professional and is currently the Asia-Pacific Chairman of McCann Worldgroup and its CEO for India. He has also won coveted international awards, including Golden Lions at Cannes and Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
Joshi also took to Twitter and thanked Thakur, he wrote, "Thank you, Anurag Ji, for your kind words and congratulations for leading IFFI 52 with immense clarity of vision and action, especially making it connect meaningfully for the young talent of small towns of India."
This year, other recipients of honours at IFFI include American filmmaker Martin Scorsese, Hungarian filmmaker Istvan Szabo and Indian Dream Girl Hema Malini.
