Power Grid Corporation of India is projecting a capital expenditure of Rs 1.88 lakh crore by the year 2032, according to a media report.
This investment plan breaks down into four categories: cross-border efforts (worth 10,000 crore), intra-state transmission projects (worth 37,000 crore), inter-state transmission projects (worth 1.16 lakh crore), and international operations (about 7,500 crore).
The state-owned transmission firm intends to set aside an additional 15,000 crore for the development of smart metering infrastructure within the given timeframe.
To underscore its dedication to sustainable energy, the business has set aside Rs 1,000 crore for the development of solar power plants.
The company has set a capital expenditure target of Rs 8,800 crore for the current fiscal year. This target could be increased to Rs 10,000 crore depending on how various ongoing projects are progressing. The corporation had already spent Rs 4,246 crore on capital projects as of September.
In addition, Power Grid Corporation of India is stepping into the data centre business, starting with a Manesar prototype project. The business has committed Rs 1,000 crore through its subsidiary PowerGrid Tele Services for this project till 2032, with the option of an increase based on the Manesar project's success.
