“Previously, people used to say ‘Is desh ka kuch nahi hoga’,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address in the Lok Sabha. He added, "I am proud that my government has managed to change this and now people believe in India's capabilities."
The PM expressed his gratitude for the public support of his vision of Viksit Bharat (developed India) which emphasises women's empowerment, development of the semiconductor industry, and housing for all. He stated, "Our only aim is Nation first, and every policy reflects this," emphasizing the numerous opportunities that Viksit Bharat will offer.
Modi outlined the government's plan to transform three crore self-help group women into 'Lakhpati Didi,' defined as a Self-Help Group member earning an annual household income of at least Rs 1,00,000 or more, with an average monthly income exceeding Rs 10,000, ensuring sustainability.
He also highlighted the focus on making India a leading player in semiconductor manufacturing. Recently, he inaugurated three semiconductor plants in Gujarat and Assam, aimed at reducing the dominance of Taiwan, China, and South Korea in this sector.
Addressing the success of PM Awas Yojana, Modi noted the construction of four crore houses and announced the plan to build 3 crore more houses for those in need, aiming to achieve the dream of housing for all. During his speech, Modi criticized the opposition, stating that his government believes in "santushtikaran" (satisfaction) and has removed the practice of "tushtikaran" (appeasement) that had been practised by the opposition parties when they were in power before 2014.
Despite his address, the opposition continuously raised slogans about Manipur, demanding that the Prime Minister address the issue directly. Modi, however, remained focused on his agenda, emphasising the government's achievements and plans for a developed and empowered India. The session highlighted the government's commitment to sustainable development, technological advancement, and inclusive growth, while also showcasing the ongoing political tensions and demands from the opposition.
