Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lead the 9th Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog on Saturday, 27 July, with the primary agenda of strategising India's transformation into a developed nation by 2047. This meeting aims to foster participative governance and strengthen the collaboration between central and state governments, enhancing the quality of life in both rural and urban areas through the optimised delivery of government services.
The Governing Council, NITI Aayog’s highest decision-making body, comprises all state chief ministers, lieutenant governors of Union Territories, and several Union ministers. As the chairman of NITI Aayog, PM Modi will guide the discussions focused on promoting inclusive development and the pivotal role of state governments in realising the vision of a developed India by 2047.
Central to the meeting is the "Approach Paper for the Vision Document on Viksit Bharat @2047," which outlines the pathway to achieving this ambitious goal. The council will also review recommendations from the 3rd National Conference of Chief Secretaries held in December last year.
Five key themes will be discussed during the conference: access to drinking water, quality of electricity, healthcare accessibility, educational quality, and land and property digitisation. In addition to these themes, sessions on cybersecurity, the aspirational districts and blocks programme, and the role of artificial intelligence in governance will also be prominent topics of discussion.
A comprehensive vision document is being crafted to steer India towards a $30 trillion economy by 2047, marking its 100th year of independence. NITI Aayog has been tasked with consolidating 10 sectoral thematic visions into a unified vision for "Viksit Bharat @2047," encompassing economic growth, social progress, environmental sustainability, and good governance.
The outcomes of this meeting are expected to set a definitive course for India’s future, emphasising the need for robust state and central government collaboration to achieve the set goals.
