In order to assess the status of eight major projects that are scattered across seven states and have a combined value of almost Rs 31,000 crore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a PRAGATI meeting on Wednesday, according to a statement from his office.
PRAGATI is the multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation of the projects involving the Centre and states. This was the 43rd edition of the meeting.
Of the projects, two dealt with expanding national highways and connectivity, two with rail and metro rail connectivity, and four with water supply and irrigation.
As per the statement, “These projects have a cumulative cost of around Rs 31,000 crore and relate to 7 states: Bihar, Jharkhand, Haryana, Odisha, West Bengal, Gujarat and Maharashtra.”
The prime minister underlined that numerous execution and planning difficulties pertaining to project placement and land requirements can be addressed with the aid of technologies like satellite imagery and the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan Portal.
He pointed out that in order to improve coordination, everyone involved in projects being carried out in densely populated urban areas can assign nodal officers and create teams. He also stated for irrigation projects that visits of stakeholders be organised where successful rehabilitation and reconstruction work has been done, the statement said.
The transformational impact of such projects may also be shown. This may motivate the stakeholders for the early execution of projects, it added.
During the interaction, he also reviewed 'Mobile Towers and 4G Coverage under USOF Projects'. Under the Universal service obligation fund (USOF), 33,573 villages with 24,149 mobile towers are to be covered for saturation of mobile connectivity.
The Prime Minister instructed officials to see to it that, during this fiscal year, mobile towers are installed in every undeveloped community, and that frequent stakeholder meetings are held. Even in the most isolated places, cell coverage will be saturated as a result. According to the statement, 348 projects totaling Rs 17.36 lakh crore have been reviewed up to the 43rd PRAGATI meeting.
