The Office of the Executive Engineer, Government of Maharashtra, has awarded Patel Engineering (PEL) and its Joint Venture (JV) partner a significant contract valued at Rs. 317.60 crore. The contract involves the construction of a water lifting arrangement for the first stage from the submergence of the Jigaon project, encompassing civil, mechanical, electrical components, and allied works.
The project, located in Maharashtra, is to be completed within a period of 24 months. Patel Engineering holds a 35 per cent share in the joint venture. The scope of work includes the construction of water lifting arrangements for Lift Irrigation Schemes (LIS) 1 to 12, approach channels, rising mains, pumping machinery, switchyards, and all associated civil, mechanical, and electrical components.

Patel Engineering, established in 1949, is a 75-year-old company with a strong presence in hydropower, irrigation, tunnels, and underground works for hydroelectric and dam projects. The company boasts a consistent track record of executing projects both domestically and internationally. To date, PEL has completed over 85 dams, 40 hydroelectric projects, and more than 300 km of tunnelling for clients, primarily central public sector undertakings (PSUs) and state government organisations.
