Panasonic follows a specific process of personal interviews for experienced professionals in order evaluate their fit within the organization.
Adarsh Mishra, CHRO, Panasonic India, “We have a predefined interview matrix which is followed once a CV is sourced. Before the final interview is scheduled, a psychometric evaluation of the candidate is done, something which is detrimental to their selection as it carries the maximum weightage before heading in for the interview. For fresh engineering graduates and post graduates in MBA, Panasonic hires from top IITs and IIMs every year.”
During the entire hiring process, besides evaluating the candidates’ technical and managerial skills, the company believes in the idea as to how the selected individual will fit into the corporation’s overall culture. Cultural fit is the glue that holds an organization together.
About the areas the company is looking to hire, Adarsh Mishra added, “50 percent of our hiring is succumbed within the area of channel sales, while the rest is equally spread across R&D, finance, IT and customer service. A major chunk of this hiring is done at junior and middle management levels. Hiring at a senior management level is only done primarily to suffice the needs of our new and upcoming businesses. “
A good performance of an employee is subject to amalgamation of several factors and Panasonic strongly believes in the core theme of ‘Learn, Live and Achieve’ and attune all the employees’ development around these parameters.
Before hiring senior professionals with 5 to 6 years experience, Panasonic India wants the presence of leadership skills within them is important here, the ability to guide team members when the going gets tough, delegation of tasks according to the individual’s skill and most importantly the ability to motivate are the qualities we look to hire a professional at Panasonic India.
The propensity to empathize with fellow employees is something that helps people make a difference within the organization. People at senior positions in a company are often approached by colleagues in times of professional and personal crises at Panasonic. Here they are expected to get in touch with their human side and show compassion for their co-worker and empathize with them. This not only helps them become a friendly figure at Panasonic, but also assists them in gaining a mark of respect amongst their comrades.
