Ola Cabs has rebranded as Ola Consumer for expansion into broader areas of digital commerce and customer experience. The company’s new identity will now address commerce, logistics, manufacturing tech systems and financial services in addition to ride-hailing services.
To begin its commerce journey, Ola Consumer has partnered with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). By integrating with ONDC, Ola aims offer more affordable and efficient access to goods and services. The company’s pilot programme for ONDC services in Bengaluru has reportedly seen Ola’s food and grocery orders exceed 40,000 daily. To support this ecosystem, Ola Consumer said it will provide one year of free access to Krutrim Cloud for ONDC suppliers and D2C brands.
The company also revealed its AI Shopping Co-Pilot, a tool designed to improve the online shopping experience. This conversational AI can integrate with social media and other platforms to offer users a more personalised and engaging shopping journey.
Ola Consumer will also address logistics with a focus on sustainability. The company plans to electrify its delivery operations, aiming to cut costs and environmental impact while creating 2.5 lakh new jobs by March 2025.
Automated warehousing is another key component of Ola Consumer’s strategy. The company said it wants to transform the warehousing sector with fully automated dark stores and fulfillment centres, partnering with major FMCG and D2C brands to enhance logistics efficiency and reduce costs.
In the finance space, Ola Consumer is launching Ola Credit in collaboration with Tata Capital and Incred, which will provide personal loans through a fully digitised process. The company is also introducing Ola Pay, a UPI-based payment system within the Ola app for transactions across rides, food and groceries.
Additionally, the Ola Coin loyalty program will reward users for transactions across all Ola services, with an initial rollout in Bengaluru before a national launch.
The rebranding also brings enhancements to Ola’s mobility services. The company plans to deploy one lakh electric two-wheelers (2W EVs) across India over the next two years and introduce Ola Share, a ride-sharing feature designed to provide affordable and efficient cab rides.
In a statement, Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder, Ola Consumer said, “At Ola Consumer, our aim is to ensure that every consumer has access to the best products and services without barriers of traditional commerce.
