Nvidia and MediaTek plan to introduce AI ARM PC processor in the first half of 2025, according to recent sources. The new processor, which is intended to compete with Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite CPUs, is now in the final stages of research and verification.
As per Chinese media Mydrivers, the AI ARM CPU is set to undergo the verification phase in Q4 2024, which corresponds to previous insights from analyst Dan Nystedt. Nystedt had previously stated that the ARM CPU design will be completed by Q3 and verified later in the year.
The upcoming chip, which is likely to be made using TSMC's 3nm process, intends to give enhanced performance while using less power than its competitors. While Nvidia and MediaTek have yet to reveal detailed specifications or performance metrics, it is expected that the new chip will include a capable integrated GPU (iGPU), posing a significant challenge to AMD's RDNA 3.5 integrated graphics, which currently dominates the market.
Despite anticipated that MediaTek will reveal information about their AI ARM CPU at Computex 2024, no official declarations were made. The new processor's competitive advantage may be its projected lower price point, making it a more reasonable option than current market options like as the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x with Snapdragon X Elite X1E-78-100, which costs USD 999.99.
