In a first, IRCTC has introduced the option of allowing customers to make payments through MobiKwik on its Connect Android App. This association will enable users to book railway tickets in a convenient and secure manner via their smartphones.
Currently, around 25,000 to 30,000 tickets are booked daily via IRCTC’s Android app and MobiKwik says that it expects this collaboration to spike up the online ticket sales, riding on the increasing preference and popularity of mobile wallets as a secure payment channel. MobiKwik also plans to extend this on IRCTC’s other digital platforms.
Commenting on the partnership, MobiKwik Founder and CEO Bipin Preet Singh said, "By partnering with IRCTC, which drives the largest number of digital transactions in the country, we give a thrust to the government’s mandate of boosting wider adoption of digital money in India."
With online sales worth $3 billion, IRCTC became the largest e-commerce platform in the country, backed by a rapid growth in digital transactions.
Other brands deploying MobiKwik’s services are Uber, OYO Rooms, Zomato, Café Coffee Day, PVR, BookMyShow and Grofers to name a few and the company has raised $30 million in funding till now from Sequoia Capital, American Express, Tree Line Asia, and Cisco Investments.
