A power purchase agreement (PPA) has been recently signed by NLC India (NLCIL), a state government enterprise under the coal ministry, and Grid Corporation of Odisha (GRIDCO) Limited for 400 MW in Stage-1 and 400 MW in Stage-2 of NLCIL's proposed Neyveli Talabira Super Critical Thermal Power Station (NTTPP) in Odisha.
In India, NLCIL is in the mining and power production sector, whereas Gridco Limited is in the transmission, bulk supply, and other associated business.
The Press Information Bureau (PIB) stated in a statement on Friday that "with this agreement, NLCIL has tied up its full capacity of 2400 MW of Neyveli Talabira Super Critical Thermal Power Station Stage-I."
It has been stated that "NLCIL has already signed a similar agreement in the past with Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Pondicherry for 1,500MW, 400MW, and 100MW power supply from Neyveli Talabira Super Critical Thermal Power station Stage-I, respectively. In the second phase of 1 x 800 MW capacity of NTTPP, 400MW is now tied up with GRIDCO Odisha."
M. Venkatachalam, director of power for NLC India, and Umakanta Sahoo, director of trading and business development for GRIDCO Limited, signed the Power Purchase Agreement.
