The North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO), a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC, has inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
The agreement, signed on 12 August 2023, outlines plans for the development of hydroelectric projects with a combined capacity of 2620 megawatts (MW) in the picturesque state of Arunachal Pradesh.
The company said that development of these projects will contribute towards achieving the declared Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) target of achieving 500 GW non-fossil energy capacity in India by 2030.
Additionally, NEEPCO said these hydroelectric projects projects are expected to create huge employment opportunities in the region and boost the local economy as well as foster skill development and technical expertise in the region.
