The arm subsidiary of Tata Power Ltd, TP Saurya, came out as a winner for 330 megawatts (MW) of the Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited’s (RUMSL) auction for 500 MW of solar plants to be constructed at Madhya Pradesh's Neemuch Solar Park.
This move has broken the record of 2.33 per unit bought in the bidding for Shajapur Solar Plant on July 19. For Neemuch Solar Park, the bidding process concluded at the minimum tariff of 2.14 per unit, on Wednesday.
As the TP Surya proposed a minimal figure of 160 MW Unit-1 for 2 rupees and 14 paise and 170MW Unit-2 for 2 rupees and 149 paise for Neemuch Solar Park, it leads to the company to finally bag the project. Meanwhile, Water company and Aljomaih Energy, a Dubai-based company was pocked up for 170 Megawatt Unit-3 at the price of 2 rupees 15 paise per unit.
Hardeep Singh Dang, Minister, New and Renewable Energy also informed about the development and said that a total of 15 National and International level companies took part in Neemuch plant bidding, on Wednesday.
These companies are TP Saurya, Avada Energy Pvt Ltd, NHDC, GAIL (India), ACME Solar Hoarding Pvt Ltd, Torrent Power, Azure Power India, National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC), Ayana Renewable Power, Beempow Energy and ABREL SPV 2 Ltd and Spring Akshay Urja Pvt Ltd.
Dang took to Twitter and wrote (roughly translated in English), "The trend of national and international investors is increasing continuously in the field of solar energy. Madhya Pradesh continues to hold the record for the cheapest solar energy. Neemuch Solar Park will get 2 rupees 14 paise per unit of electricity."
Meanwhile, the whole project will be set up on around 1,000 hectares of land with Rs 1750 crores private investment. Also, the project is expected to be completed and creating power by March-2023. Apart from that, at least 2500 people are going to get employement opportunities during project establishment and around 500 individuals during project operation.
