N S Vishwanathan was once again appointed as Deputy Governor by the Reserve Bank Of India (RBI) on Monday. The Cabinet’s Appointments Committee has approved the expansion of his tenure for one year after the Department of Financial Services in the Ministry of Finance had recommended his name.
His tenure will be of one year with effect from 4 July of this year. The order is issued by the Ministry of Personnel. His present tenure is scheduled to last till Wednesday, 3 July.
Vishwanathan is one among the three Deputy Governors at the Central Bank of India. The other two being M K Jain and B P Kanungo.
Viral Acharya had last month resigned from the post of Deputy Governor who was assigned a tenure of three years. But he resigned six months before the scheduled end. He is one of the faculties in the Department of Economics at New York University. He explained personal reasons as to cause of his resignation.
