Meta-owned platforms Instagram, Facebook and the recently launched Threads all experienced declining numbers of active users and advertisers during the third quarter, as reported by Tech-Info website Similarweb.com.
In Q3, Meta's business portal, business.facebook.com, experienced 11.4 per cent decrease in traffic which big fall from Q1 and Q2, as per estimates from Similar Web. Meta’s business portal is used by business entities to advertise their business activities in Facebook, Instagram and other Meta-owned brands.
Moreover, global traffic to Facebook experienced a 6.4 per cent decline, whereas Instagram saw a positive increase of 2.9 per cent.
Meta's mobile apps are still popular, but these audiences have been gradually decreasing. In Q3, there was a drop in monthly active users for Instagram, declining by -8.2 per cent in the US, while Facebook experienced a -3.8 per cent drop.
On a global scale, Instagram and WhatsApp managed to gain new users. On the other hand, Facebook and Messenger declined by -2.3 per cent and -6.4 per cent, respectively. Facebook saw -6.4 per cent decrease in worldwide visits in Q3.
Threads, the micro-blogging platform which was launched as a counter to Twitter (now X), saw significant user traffic in the initial days of its launch. But In September, usage on Android was down 40 per cent from where it was in July.
