The automotive space is going through a huge shift with four key pillars, autonomous driving, connectivity and digitisation, safety and sustainability, which are driving the future of mobility, said Sharad Agarwal, Head, Lamborghini India at BW Businessworld's Future of Design event.
On what distinguishes Lamborghini from other brands, Agarwal stated that innovation has been the DNA of the company since its advent in 1963. Moreover, with each of the designs, they brought cutting-edge technology and innovative design to the world of automotive, which did not exist before.
Describing the current challenge that the company faces, Agarwal said, "On one side, we are facing limitations from regulations because the cars need to be sustainable. On the other side, we had a challenge of customer expectations because, as a brand, we make a dream car; we don't make cars for daily commutes. So, the challenge is how do we find a fair balance between the two?"
"For this, we are hybridising our entire model range with an investment of 1.8 billion euros. Furthermore, by 2028, we will bring the first fully electric car model," Agarwal conveyed on the company’s future commitments.
Talking about what makes the design of a brand so desirable, Agarwal explained that a good design has to follow the principle of form-following-function and should give its driver the experience of a pilot inside the car, but more importantly, it has to keep the DNA of the company intact.
