US-based Lam Research, a leading supplier of semiconductor fabrication equipment, on Wednesday revealed plans to extend its global supply chain operations to India. This move is aimed at supporting the company’s ability to meet rising global demand and enhance supply chain resilience.
Lam is exploring collaborations with India-based suppliers skilled in producing precision components, custom parts, high purity gas delivery systems and other critical assemblies required for advanced semiconductor wafer fabrication equipment.
By incorporating India into its supply network, Lam Research said it aims to leverage the country’s growing manufacturing prowess and technical expertise.
With the global semiconductor industry projected to reach USD 1 trillion in annual revenue by the end of the decade, Lam Research is proactively expanding its geographic footprint. The company has stressed the importance of a robust, diversified supply chain to address both current needs and future demands.
In a statement, Karthik Rammohan, group vice president and head of global operations at Lam Research, said, “Leveraging the infrastructure and talent of our India Center of Engineering, our new proactive initiative to drive supply chain growth in India also has the capacity to contribute to improved performance, sustainability and enhanced capabilities for our customers regionally and across Asia.”
