JD(S) MLAs Have Highest Attendance In Karnataka Assembly, Ruling BJP Second

Karnataka is all set to elect its new government by going for the assembly polls on 10 May. As the battle for the Southern state heats up, all the political parties are leaving no stones unturned to prove why they are the best for the state. Ahead of the Karnataka Assembly, here is a look at the performance of the sitting MLAs of the state in terms of their attendance in the assembly sessions. 

The details have been released in a survey, or as one can say the MLAs report card, by the Association of Democratic Reforms on Karnataka assembly. 

According to the survey, KS Lingesh, the Janta Dal (Secular) MLA from Belur and Channappa Mallappa Nimbannavar, the BJP MLA from Kalaghatgi have a 100 per cent attendance and attended all the 150 days of the assembly. GB Jyothiganesh, BJP MLA from Tumkur City has an attendance of 99 per cent, alongwith Sanjeeva Matandoor, the BJP MLA from Puttur.  

The JD(S) MLAs are the best performers in terms of attendance. The 35 MLAs of the party have attended the assembly for an average 107 days, standing first. The 99 MLAs of the ruling BJP have attended the assembly for an average 99 days, followed by 76 MLAs of Indian National Congress who attended for an average 95 days. 

The sole MLA of the Karnataka Pragnyavantha Janatha Party attended the assembly for just 4 days, while the 2 independent MLAs have attended for 93 days. 

In terms of the bills, a total of 214 Bills were tabled in the 15th Karnataka Assembly. Out of these 214 Bills, 202 or 94 per cent Bills were passed. On an average a MLA (including MLAs elected through bye-elections) from Karnataka Assembly has asked 116 questions, including starred questions and unstarred questions.
