Anurag Basu directed Jagga Jasoos has taken off a good start at the Indian box-office. The movie raked in Rs 33.17 crore in its first weekend. The film has been released in over 1800 screens in India.
Jagga Jasoos started the proceedings on Friday (14 July) on a positive note. The film collected Rs 8.57 crore on the opening day. The film saw a very good jump on Saturday (15 July), collecting Rs 11.53 crore.
Sunday (16 July) saw further jump for the movie with Rs 13.07 crore coming in. Multiplexes have contributed largely to the business of Jagga Jasoos whereas, single screen theatres were moderate.
The film is riding on mixed reviews from critics and the word of mouth has been average. Jagga Jasoos has been delayed by almost 2 years, before it finally hit theatres on 14 July.
The film has gone past the lifetime collection of Katrina Kaif’s last release Baar Baar Dekho, which collected a mere Rs 32 crore at the box-office. Jagga Jasoos is on the same lines as Ranbir Kapoor’s last film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which collected Rs 32 crore in its first weekend.
Jagga Jasoos is now the 6th highest weekend grosser of 2017 behind Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (Rs 128 crore), Tubelight (Rs 64.77crore), Raees (Rs 59.83 crore), Jolly LLB 2 (Rs 50.46 crore), Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya (Rs 43.05 crore), and Kaabil (Rs 39 crore).
Jagga Jasoos has been made at a budget of Rs 100 crore and the movie has to perform in the same manner, it is doing now, in order to go past the production budget and bring in profit for its makers.
