In her (Sushma) statement in the parliament on Thursday (28 December), EAM (External Affairs Minister) Sushma Swaraj has condemned Pakistan’s behaviour during the recent Jadhav family meeting. Labelling it as an instrument to further Pakistan’s propaganda.
Swaraj in her statement said that the meeting lacked compassion and humanitarian grounds were completely missing from it.
“There was a serious and gross violation of human rights of the family members of Jadhav and an intimidating atmosphere was created for them during this meeting. There are not enough words to condemn the same,” said Swaraj.
Swaraj lashed out at Pakistani media for harassing the Jadhav’s family and passing shrewd remarks on the two ladies.
“The Pakistani media hurled false and motivated accusations about Jadhav,” Swaraj added.
“We note with regret that the Pakistani side conducted the meeting in a manner which violated the letter and spirit of our understanding,” the MEA(Ministry Of External Affairs) had said in an official statement earlier this week.
Jadhav’s meeting with his family in Islamabad has caused a stir between the two nations with a series of allegations and counter allegations.
External Affairs Minister also highly condemned hurting the cultural and religious sensibilities of Jadhav’s mother and wife by making them remove their bindi’s, chudi’s and mangalsutra.
“The car in which Jadhav’s family was travelling was deliberately delayed so that the media gets a chance harass the two.”
Pakistan Foreign Office in an official statement has categorically rejected India’s criticism of the highly publicised meeting.
As per reports in the Pakistani newspaper Dawn, the FOP (Foreign Office Pakistan) spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal has reportedly told the newspaper that there was something fishy in the shoe of Jadhav’s wife, which is being investigated, rest all her belongings have returned to her post the meeting.
Swaraj in her statement at the parliament has completely denied the accusation saying Pakistan is cooking up stories and fabricating information.
