Jacobs has been appointed by CG Semi Private Limited, a joint venture between CG, Renesas Electronics Corporation, and Stars Microelectronics (Thailand) Public Co. Ltd., to lead the engineering design for a new Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facility in Sanand, Gujarat, India.
As the project’s engineering, procurement, and construction services (EPCS) partner for the Mini Line, and the engineering partner for the Main Line, Jacobs will play a critical role in helping CG Semi establish a state-of-the-art semiconductor manufacturing hub in the region.
The facility, which is planned to cover more than 28 acre, will be dedicated to producing both advanced and legacy semiconductor packages, serving industries such as automotive, consumer electronics, industrial manufacturing, and 5G. This project is part of CG Semi’s broader strategy to create a world-class operation in India’s rapidly expanding semiconductor market. Jacobs, with extensive experience in the US, Europe, and Asia, will bring its global expertise to ensure the success of the new facility.
In addition to its role in the semiconductor sector, Jacobs has a longstanding presence in India, where its team has been supporting the operations and maintenance of the Hindan Air Force Station in Ghaziabad since 2016. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Jacobs played a key role in assisting the Indian Air Force’s humanitarian missions by facilitating the delivery of supplies to communities across the country.
"Jacobs partnering with CG Semi on this pivotal project underscores our commitment to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions in the rapidly expanding semiconductor market in India," said Chair and CEO Bob Pragada. “With our extensive experience in the US, Europe and Asia, and proven capabilities, we are eager to contribute to the success of their new facility, helping to drive growth and technological advancement in the region.”
