With the current changes seen in H1-B visa application format many hearts would have broken and many dreams would have been shattered. From early 90s the main aim of the bright students of all the engineering colleges in India was to apply for a Masters in a college in US and after completing the Masters apply for a job in a company there and eventually get settled in US. For those who could not go for higher studies their aim was to go for an Onsite opportunity through H1B or L1B visa and then seek an opportunity in a company in US and get settled there.
Going to US and getting settled had become the main goal for most of the people who planned to make a career in IT field. Almost 8 out of 10 parents you meet in the plane would be proudly boasting about going to visit their son or daughter who is settled in US and working in an American company. Their son or daughter working in US has in a way become their only claim to fame.
There is nothing wrong in living your dreams through your children. I am not against their thought and in a way they are conceptually right. India being a vast country the chances of showcasing your talent and getting that right opportunity to grow are slim.
Whether we like it or not, Donald Trump is the 45th president of United States of America. And with him being in the helm of affairs and being the head of the Oval office, a thing are going to change, for good or bad is too early to predict. He is there to stay and fulfill the promises he made to his countrymen at the time of his election campaign. He has already started taking steps towards getting his plans implemented. Yes there have been some resistance but I will not be surprised if the American president has the last laugh. He will take out ways to implement all his plans, even if has to do some tweaking and give it a rosy picture.
Yes Canada and Europe have opened up their gates wide open for Indians who want to or are forced to leave America and are welcoming them with open arms. They have said that there are a lot of opportunities for people who are looking for other options and not yet wanting to go back to India. If that happens and people do choose to go either to Europe or to Canada then the number of people coming back to India will not be as huge as it seems for now.
But there will be a sizeable number which would want to come back home and try to start their own business and if and when that happens then the return of people will be a boon for India as it will increase the job market in India rapidly. India market has a lot of potential and if tapped properly then the scope of growth is immense. So there are no worries about US market slowly closing for us. We need to remember that the world is a global market and now and India is emerging as a major player in this market. So the fact that US market is closing for IT people should be taken as a boon and not as a big jolt to a bright future. In fact, we can actually be in India and work in India and still affords to have the professional growth that we would like to have.
