Apple is rumored to launch iPhone SE+ 5G (known as iPhone SE 3) and iPad Air in its first major event of 2022. According to a Bloomberg report, Apple’s spring event will be focused on ‘minor or complementary’ products. iPhone SE 3 will be the cheapest 5G offering from the brand.
As per the Bloomberg report, Apple usually reserves its high-end products for the month of September and October. Apple wisely targets the fourth quarter which includes the festive season and holidays in many countries. Most people wait for the festive season to purchase smartphones and gadgets. Another reason is a bit technical. Apple generally showcases its software roadmap at WWDC (World Wide Developer Conference) in June that gives an idea of what to expect in upcoming Apple products.
Noteworthy, Apple iPhone SE was showcased in 2020. Now it has become necessary for the brand to give updates to its low-end customers. The demand for Apple SE models has increased in developing countries, especially in India. Apple iPhone SE generally targets those customers who want to enter the iOS ecosystem at a budget price.
Likewise, iPad Air has also not seen an upgrade since 2020. So, it is expected that Apple might launch the refreshed variant of iPad Air in the spring event.
According to display analyst Ross Young, Apple will start manufacturing display panels of iPhone SE 3 or iPhone SE+ 5G this month, with phone production beginning in March. This advocates that the launch might take place in April or May.
Besides, Young also stated that the iPhone SE+ 5G would keep the same 4.7-inch LCD display as its previous generation. However, it might get flagship A15 Bionic chip, which will make it 5G compatible. The iPhone SE+ 5G is also said to get the 3GB of RAM and an upgraded 12-megapixel camera.
