Sustainability and Artificial Intelligence(AI) go hand-in-hand in handling hazardous chemicals, stated V Raju, Business Head and Senior Vice President of Allcargo Supply Chain.
Highlighting the issues about the supply chain management in the transportation of hazardous chemicals, he said “Hydral, extinguisher, eye-washer, sewage and water treatment plant etc, are massive capex that needs to be mandatorily installed in a chemical warehouse."
He emphasised the importance of using machine learning (ML) and AI to manage tar, which is a by-product of the chemical process.
Additionally, during the discourse, he also mentioned that international standards mandate specific care if they are from Class-3 to Class-9 except for Class-7 which are radioactive substances.
The chemicals in these categories are primarily corrosive, flammable, marine polluter or reactive with water etc. Therefore cargo storage needs to be designed keeping these constraints in mind, he highlighted.
Delivering a keynote session at the BW Supply Chain Summit & Awards 2023 V Raju said, “The purpose of our business is to dedicatedly serve to ensure stakeholder delight and influence the environment and society at large with our good work, as we abide by our values that form the cornerstone of our business strategies, decisions and activities,” he concluded.
