Infosys, in partnership with the Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) and the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS), launched of 'ASSURE' (Accelerating Sustainable and Super-efficient Real Estate) on Thursday.
The programme aims to realise 100 million sq. ft. of high-performance commercial buildings in India by 2030.
ASSURE has been envisioned as the largest organised effort globally to implement high-performance buildings at scale. The initiative will harness the collective expertise of industry leaders, innovators, enterprises, and the government to promote sustainability in India's commercial real estate sector. Through technical assistance for lighthouse projects, extensive capacity development across the ecosystem, and viability demonstrations inspired by the sustainable campuses of Infosys, ASSURE seeks to drive impactful environmental change.
In a statement, Nandan Nilekani, Chairman of Infosys said, "We are delighted to collaborate with AEEE and IIHS to amplify the potential of their nation-wide community and to create significant impact on India's environmental footprint." Infosys has been a pioneer in adopting and achieving ESG goals, having reached carbon neutrality in 2020, 30 years ahead of the Paris Agreement schedule.
IIHS Director Aromar Revi also expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stressed the role of actionable solutions that build on existing climate science, policy, finance and innovation efforts.
By collaborating with government agencies to foster supportive policies and engaging with large financial institutions, ASSURE aims to facilitate the widescale adoption of high-performance commercial buildings, driving real change towards a sustainable and energy-efficient future.
