“Liquor ban has zero direct effect on fatalities” said Zoravar Kalra, Managing Director, Massive Restaurants at the BW Hotelier’s 3rd F and B conclave and expo that took place at Andaz, Aerocity, Delhi.
In conversation with Kalra, the first keynote address of the event was on the ‘emerging opportunities and Directions in F&B sector’ which was moderated by Sourish Bhattacharyya, Consulting Editor, BW Hotelier.
In the midst of some sad news for the F&B industry, Kalra provided some ray of hope speaking about the areas opening up for the hospitality professions. “In every crisis situation, there is a way out,” he said.
Speaking on the Liquor ban, Kalra illustrated some important statistics, “Goa being the highest consumption for alcohol, Gujrat witnesses more accidents due to drunk driving. The liquor ban was completely inadequate,” he said.
Kalra further spoke about the positive side of the F&B industry, “The Indian restaurant business is 40 times bigger than the Bollywood. The hospitality industry is the second biggest employer in India. Currently six billion people are involved in it. It’s time for the hospitality sector to come together.” He added.
Bhattacharyya and Kalra ended the informative session by agreeing on the fact that there is an urgent need to train the staff and have restaurant management institutes as well in India.
