India and Peru conducted a comprehensive review of bilateral relations and explored avenues to enhance cooperation in key sectors, including commerce, digital public infrastructure, energy, defence, traditional medicine, and science & technology.
Discussions also covered collaboration in multilateral and international organisations, as well as a commitment to increasing the frequency of trade, cultural, and educational exchanges.
The third India-Peru Joint Commission Meeting was held in Lima, co-chaired by India's Secretary (East), Jaideep Mazumdar, and Peru’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, John Peter Camino Cannock. The meeting further solidified the growing partnership between the two nations.
India extended its gratitude to Peru for its continued support and participation in the Voice of Global South Summit (VOGSS), including the involvement of Peruvian President Dina Boluarte and former Foreign Minister Javier Gonzalez-Olaechea. Secretary Mazumdar also congratulated Peru on its bicentenary celebrations, reinforcing the historical bond between the two countries.
The visit also marked the celebration of the 60th anniversary of India’s Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) program. Over 100 Peruvian alumni attended the event, further strengthening educational and economic ties.
Both countries agreed to maintain regular high-level visits and organize more bilateral events to further deepen their partnership.
