Singapore is reportedly open to importing electricity from India and other regional countries in light to improve its energy security according to a media report on Sunday.
The Energy Market Authority (EMA) has welcomed proposals to import electricity into Singapore up to four gigawatts, the report said additionally.
The biddings are sought till 29 December 2023, after which companies will be selected and appointed to import the electricity.
The report also underlined previously India was to supply Singapore renewable energy. The two countries were in talks to connect their power grids through an undersea cable via Andaman and Nicobar.
Singapore’s power instability is attributed to the wild price swing and so the country is in search of a variety of options to solve the electricity shortage.
