India is going through the democratisation of entrepreneurship as never in modern India, the entry barriers have been this low, said Sandeep Aggarwal, Founder of Droom.
While speaking at the Global Influencers & Leadership Summit and Awards 2024, Aggarwal said that the internet became accessible to the public in 1994. From 1994 to 2010 not much was happening in India when it came to building the company.
"But now even if one is from a typical middle-class family background and has an idea or some creativity, you can challenge the status quo," Aggarwal stated.
While talking about the current business environment, Aggarwal highlighted that one can create a large company and make a national-level impact. "But this was not the India he grew up in," he mentioned.
Growing up in a typical middle-class family background, Agarwal said, "We experienced a lot of emphasis on education in our households. I decided to challenge the status quo. When I grew up there were only four types of heroes in our country cricket players, Bollywood stars, politicians and industrialists with a special last name. But now things have changed," he added.
