“India’s textile industry is expected to grow to USD 350 billion by 2030 and add 3.5 crore jobs,” said Giriraj Singh, Union Minister of Textiles, during a Bharat Tex 2025 curtain-raiser event in New Delhi. Singh expressed confidence that the industry's 'Bharat' brand and green, sustainable textile products would be recognised globally.
Industry Expansion And Government Support
“Union Government’s PLI scheme for textiles will enable the apparel industry to boost production and promote their branding”, Singh continued, “the PLI scheme will enable linking of the textile value chain and lure FDI in the country.”
The minister shed light on the importance of the Union Government's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) initiative for textiles, which aims to increase the sector's production capacity and encourage branding. He noted the scheme's potential to integrate the textile value chain and attract foreign direct investment (FDI) to the country. He claimed that India's demographic dividend will allow it to outperform China in textile growth.
The minister encouraged state governments to participate in this event, stating that Bharat Tex 2025 would represent Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 5F vision of "Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign. “With innovation, collaboration and the Make in India spirit at its core, this event is an embodiment of the 5F vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister- Farm to Fibre to Factory to Fashion to Foreign,” he added.
Bharat Tex 2025
Bharat Tex 2025 is a global textile trade show scheduled to take place from 14 to 17 February 2025, at two locations- Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi and the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida. The event is scheduled to include over 5,000 exhibitors, 6,000 foreign buyers from 110 countries and over 1,20,000 attendees. It will showcase a diverse range of products, including clothes, home furnishings, fibres, technological textiles and handicrafts.
Apart from trade exhibits, Bharat Tex 2025 will host CEO roundtables, B2B meetings, investment announcements and fashion displays.
The event aims to promote India's contribution to sustainable textiles and develop global textile value chains. The Bharat Tex 2025 event is being organised by a consortium of Textile Export Promotion Councils (EPCs), with funding from the Ministry of Textiles. The event will build on the popularity of its previous edition in 2024, with live demonstrations, sustainability workshops and cultural activities.
