Calling GST a ‘great’ and ‘simple’ tax, PM Narendra Modi addressed the Indian Diaspora in Myanmar after he announced the gratis visa for the Myanmar citizens. PM suggested that the government is not only reforming but also transforming.
The PM also said that the government so far has taken all the big decisions like GST, conducting surgical strikes on Pak or demonetization without any fear or hesitation.
“GST is ushering in a new culture across the nation.”
Modi pitched his government's nation building efforts to realize his vision of a 'New India' free of any kind of discrimination.
“An India free from poverty, terrorism, corruption, communalism, casteism is being created and I pledge to build a new India by 2022 as India turns 75.”
"We have not shied away from taking decisions that are tough. For us, the nation is bigger than politics," he said.
PM Modi also commended the Indian community in Myanmar for contributing to their adoptive country's development while also keeping in touch with their roots. He assured them the Indian government has taken a number of measures for the diaspora.
“The Indian diaspora has contributed to the development of wherever they have settled. They have also kept in touch with their roots.”
“Global recognition of Yoga is the achievement of the diaspora, which took Yoga all over the world”, he added addressing the crowd at Thuwunna Stadium in in Yangon.
The digi-savvy PM stressed that the suggestions given to him via the Modi app were very useful and he has taken many suggestions and implemented them.
“Before coming here, I had requested you to give me your inputs through the Narendra Modi Mobile App & I got many insightful suggestions.”
“Based on the feedback of the diaspora, we have undertaken numerous measures for the diaspora.”
Taking about External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, he said that the minister is really active and sensitive to the concerns of every Indian in any part of the world and is always ready to help.
“People to people ties are the strength of India-Myanmar relations”.
