Gandhinagar witnessed State heads, heads of Government, corporate leaders, Nobel Laureates, academicians and economists from across the world at the 8th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017. Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, met global leaders and heads of states to explore partnerships and opportunities that Gujarat has to offer.
The outcomes were enthralling.
Japan:MoU was signed between Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Gujarat Industries and Mines Department (GIMD), Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC), Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC) and Toyota Tsusho India Private Limited (TTIPL) to further enhance Indo-Japan ties.
The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd. Maruti Suzuki and Nihon Technology are looking at opportunities of collaboration or investing in Gujarat.
Russia:Konstantin Markelov, Vice-Governor - Chairman, Government of Astrakhan Region, Russia and Vijay Rupani existing relation and collaboration in study of culture, art, literature and language; exchange of families as house guests; exchange of specialists in the field of health, education and culture; expertise in provision of shelter, land use, transport and urban development.
Russia was suggested to look to further expanding the cooperation ties to Oil and gas industry, chemical industry, shipbuilding and repairing, agriculture and processing industries, machineries, transport and logistics, trade, food, tourism.
Australia:As a partner country for VGGS 2017, Government of Queensland is interested in Sister State Partnership with Gujarat. Apart from them, Westpac Bank, OMC international, Griffith University, Aurizon Ltd. (Australia's largest rail freight company), School of Business IT and Logistic, Melbourne and Australian National University are interested in banking, port technology, research and innovation, respectively.
UAE:In a meeting with Dr. Rashid Ahmad Bin Fahad, Cabinet Member and Minister of State, United Arab Emirates Vijay Rupani suggested that as UAE is pursuing groundbreaking renewable energy and energy efficiency programs, plenty of business opportunity lies in Gujarat in solar energy, wind energy and biomass energy. UAE being one of the top trading partners for India, Government of Gujarat explored collaboration opportunities in areas like Chemicals & Petrochemicals, financial services, tourism, ports & maritime to name a few. The delegation from UAE expressed their desire to explore mutual interest partnership with India as a whole and Gujarat in particular stating that most of the cargo from UAE to India comes to Gujarat first. They also stated that the VGGS has become as important as Davos.
Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, France, during his meeting with Chief Minister of Gujarat said "We have brought more than 100 heads of French companies to the Summit and we are excited to explore collaboration opportunities here and have fruitful sharing of knowledge and ideas. Many of these companies are keen on investing in Gujarat and I am confident that this summit will provide an opportunity for the same. Through our discussion with Narendra Modi, we are confident that Indo-French relationships are as important to India as it is for France."
