The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci) announced on Tuesday the appointment of Jyoti Vij as its new Director General. Vij, who has been serving as the Additional Director General at Ficci, will assume her new role and take charge of the Ficci secretariat with immediate effect.
Jyoti Vij brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new position. A graduate of Shri Ram College of Commerce in 1988, she went on to earn a master's degree in business economics from the University of Delhi in 1990. Her journey with Ficci began in 1993, and over the years, she has served the organisation in various capacities, demonstrating her commitment and leadership.
On Vij's appointment, Ficci President Anish Shah expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are delighted to welcome Jyoti Vij in her new role. Her thought leadership, strengths in policy formulation, people skills, and long experience in the organisation will add immense value to Ficci.”
Ficci highlighted Vij's extensive work across sectors and her interactions with diverse stakeholders on policy and business issues. She currently leads cross-functional teams across various departments within Ficci. The organisation emphasised her ability to engage with senior government officials, multilateral organisations, and industry leaders on critical industry concerns and projects. Vij is also an active member of several government committees on industry-related issues.
"Jyoti regularly interfaces with senior government officials, multilateral organisations, and industry leaders on industry concerns and projects. She is part of several government committees on industry-related issues and has handled numerous multilateral projects. She also contributes to the international inward-investment promotion agenda of the government," Ficci said.
In another development, Shailesh Pathak, secretary general, Ficci has resigned citing personal reasons. "We thank Pathak for his leadership and contributions to Ficci and wish him well in his new endeavours," Ficci said.
