In a statement addressing recent rain-related incidents at the Delhi, Jabalpur and Gwalior Airport, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia sought to alleviate concerns about airport infrastructure. Speaking to the media after a review meeting for the Smart City project in Gwalior, Scindia emphasised the importance of addressing deficiencies and ensuring public safety.
Scindia clarified that the Delhi airport is no longer under his jurisdiction but reiterated his commitment to addressing public concerns.
The Minister explained that the canvas roof at Jabalpur airport can accumulate water, leading to issues, but assured that any deficiencies would be addressed promptly.
Scindia downplayed the issue at Gwalior airport, attributing it to a temporary blockage in the drain caused by heavy rainfall. He confirmed that the issue has since been resolved and the airport is functioning smoothly.
"I have always believed, whether it’s the Civil Aviation, Telecom, North Eastern Region, or Steel Departments, that no injustice to the public should be tolerated and any deficiencies must be addressed,” he added.
This statement comes as a reassurance to passengers and stakeholders in the aviation industry, highlighting the government's commitment to addressing infrastructure concerns and ensuring the smooth operation of airports.
