Coal Production Grows 5.85% In FY 2024-25
Cumulatively, coal production up to September 2024 reached 453.01 MT, reflecting a 5.85 per cent growth compared to 427.97 MT in the same period last year
The Ministry of Coal has reported a significant increase in coal production for the fiscal year 2024-25, achieving a total of 68.94 million tons (MT) in September 2024, which marks a 2.49 per cent rise from the 67.26 MT produced in September 2023.
Cumulatively, coal production up to September 2024 reached 453.01 MT, reflecting a 5.85 per cent growth compared to 427.97 MT in the same period last year.
Coal dispatch also experienced an upswing, reaching 73.37 MT in September 2024, a 4.35 per cent increase from 70.31 MT during the same month in FY 2023-24. The total cumulative coal dispatch stood at 487.87 MT for FY 2024-25, indicating a growth of 5.54 per cent from 462.27 MT in the previous year.
The improved offtake has contributed to a robust coal stock position, with the total coal stock at designated coal buffer (DCB) reaching 33.46 MT as of 29 September 2024, compared to 22.15 MT on the same date last year, a remarkable growth of 51.07 per cent.
The Ministry is committed to further enhancing coal production and optimising dispatch to meet the rising energy demands of the country. This upward trend in production and dispatch strengthens energy security and supports India's goal of achieving self-sufficiency in coal supply.
